Mary
Newton will show 6 new paintings of dogs, Annabelle Wilson
will show 6 new paintings of figures, and Karen
Spears will show several drawings of dogs. All three artists
bring a fresh approach to familiar subjects, and while they
may love their subjects, they avoid sentimentality. Newton
and Wilson's works are loosely but realistically painted,
and Spears captures the essence of her subjects with rich
black line on paper.
Spears is a Professor at Eastern
Kentucky University, Newton is an instructor at the University
of Louisville, and Wilson teaches in the Art Department at
the University of Kentucky. All three have shown widely in
the region.
A portion of the proceeds from
sales will be donated to the new, non-profit magazine PawPrint,
which supports more than 2 dozen animal rescue programs in
Central Kentucky.
